Just for clarity - This product is beeing built and is due to be deployed to some major utilities shortly - this is your opportunity to receive it early, at a super-low cost and help us maximise its future capabilities -  if you contribute to receive one, you will receive one, irrespective of goals.
It's also or opportunity to showcase it - we're kind of proud of it
A brief history.Current Cost has a reputation for delivering products to a large audience, since our birth back in 2006 we've delivered over 2.5 million products - our ambitions are even bigger with the Quel.Envi

We've long since realised that there are some truly great products out there, sadly, they won't ever all use the same protocol - that makes the decision of what to use, pretty tricky - Throw into the mix the new generation displays for Smart metering  and you run the risk of having a wonder wall of monitors  ..............until now -
Pictured: First printed plastic design

We have an agnostic approach to communication, we all know some are better than others and some work in different environments better - but hey, we're not here selling comms' we're here to ensure you can use them... all
We are now manufacturing the first batch of Quels, these are for early trials with Utilities, but we want a wider user audience to try them, enjoy them and maybe give us feedback, they are fully functioning and C2 enabled, they will support:
Zigbee (SEP & HA) -Z-Wave -Wireless M-Bus -P1 & P2 -KNX -3G/GPRS -Wavenis -Bluetooth - 433 & 868 MHz -LAN
Every day the Quel looks for updates (via inbuilt Wi-Fi) and pushes these out to you, this will mean your access device is always evolving and ready for new technologies, it'll perform new functions and give you a choice of user interfaces - afterall, we're not all the same.
Because it has Wi-Fi it's already enabled for uploading information back to cloud or web based services.

We want to bring all that good and smart stuff together, in one place, easier to manage, control, view and manipulate. This ensures your Quel will never be redundant or stranded with older technologies - You'll only ever need a new one when we offer a choice of colour!

The present choice of 'smart stuff' includes, but certainly isn't limited to:

  • Energy Monitoring
  • Metering, smart and pre-smart
  • Usage alerts (water, gas, Electric)
  • Individual appliance monitoring or control
  • Scheduled events or balance control
  • Lighting monitor, control and dimming
  • Thermostats and environment control
  • Temperature/humidity/Smoke/Gas Detectors
  • Security
  • Door locks
  • Boiler maintenance
  • Occupancy sensors
  • Radiator Valves
  • Motion sensors
  • Assisted living

As is, this beautiful little device with a 7" screen will retail at £99.00, that's fully inclusive of a C2 receiver - which works with the following.

There's a growing range of C2 Transmitters, for connection by CT, plugs, circuits, some gas meters, some water meters and even some electric meters.

Although there's a good deal more C2 sensor types being built, there are hundreds of third party ones that will integrate with the Quel right now - any cloud services will drop straight in, all common RF will plug in - the list of services grows on a daily basis

DrawingBack
The access panels on the back allow different protocols to be plugged in easily - ensuring if you change your system or there's yet another new protocol, you can adopt it. Above shows a non-standard LAN version.
Built in, is a detector to ensure the screen is only on when you need it - no point in wasting energy!
Instruction manuals and videos are in-built to the device, that's a few less trees destroyed at least.
The Quel will work in Landscape or Portrait, although most early artwork is Landscape, we can push Portrait as and when it's available, we think choice is important.
The whole concept of Smart could get diluted or remain partially un-adopted if we don't start bringing it all together - The Quel offers that chance, a static device for all the family to use and engage with - where occupancy, well being, security and energy can all sit together in one neat bundle

Spread the word... let's make it happen.
We'll add some FAQ's just as soon as they are asked (even if they're not frequent).
If you have any ideas for the product, any comments, see any missing (realistic) perks
- or make contact for any other reason - indiegogo@currentcost.com

The full Quel range for 2014
The Pre-Quel, is an entry level device designed for utilities
The C-Quel has been designed as a full consumer access device, that includes some specialist features for utilities.

The My-Quel however is your Quel (and there are not many more like it)

Introducing the Quel, the new generation In-Home-Display - Smart meter ready, Smart home ready... basically, Smart and ready!
Quel
Due to the software platform it's built on, the Quel can integrate existing third party apps - This is great news - mainly because it saves us doing it, but also, some of them are really rather good!
... the list goes on
